I grew up in Emerald Beach on the Coffs Coast of NSW. I got into surfing at the age of 4 when dad made me my first board out of 2 snapped shortboards. It was a 5’6 Single fin Longboard.
Due to my dads large board collection I grew up riding a bit of everything but mostly rode Shortboards and competed away at the regions Longboard events with my family. Towards the end of high school I was competing on both long and short but leant towards the Longboard events as I was enjoying those more and had a lot better mates around the country in the longboard scene. Since finishing high School I have followed the Australian Longboard Circuit and competed on the World Longboard Tour ever since. In 2006 on my second year of the WLT I placed equal 3rd.
In 2008 I won my first WLT event in France finishing again 3rd on the WLT for the year. In 2009 I won my first ASP WLT title after winning the first event in Japan and placing 2nd in the Maldives. Other than that i’m just a frothing surfer and enjoy it no matter what it’s like. I love working closely on my surfboard designs with my shaper Billy Tolhurst.
We have basically developed a couple of different boards for all kinds of conditions which helps keep my surfing really fresh. Since “09″ I have also started working more closely on Fin design with the crew from FCS.
